Markus Krajewski studied law, economics and political science at the University of Hamburg (Germany) and the Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee (US). He obtained a Master degree (M.S.) in international affairs from FSU and his First Legal State Exam from Hamburg. Subsequently he was Research Fellow at the Institute of International Affairs of the University of Hamburg and Legal Intern (Referendar) at the Hamburg Court of Appeals (Hanseatisches Oberlandesgericht Hamburg). He obtained his PhD in 2001 from the University of Hamburg.
Between 2001 and 2003 he taught German, European and international law as DAAD Lecturer for German Law at King’s College London. In 2003 he moved to the University of Potsdam as Assistant Professor for Public, European and International Economic Law. Between 2008 and 2010 he was on leave from Potsdam to serve as a Guest Professor at the Collaborative Research Centre Transformations of the State at the University of Bremen.
Since 2010 he has been University Professor at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg where he holds the Chair in Public Law and Public International Law. Prof. Krajewski is one of the programme directors of the MA in Human Rights and chairperson of the Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (CHREN). He also chairs the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for Human Rights and is Secretary-General of the German Branch of the International Law Association.
Professor Krajewski teaches German constitutional and administrative law, European law, public international law and human rights. His research focusses on international economic law, human rights, European external relations and the law of public services. He has written four books and authored numerous contributions in scholarly journals and edited volumes. He is co-editor of the European Yearbook of International Economic Law (EYIEL).
Professor Krajewski advises international governmental and non-governmental organisations on European and international economic law, and has acted as a consultant in different development cooperation projects.
